Freshly Made Sketches #101

Happy Wednesday!  There is a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches today!  But before I get into that, I'd like to say how much fun I had last week with our 100th sketch celebration!  To see all the winners, check out the winners' post here.

Now on to this week's challenge!  Linda Callahan is our lovely hostess and I love, love her sketch!  I was so excited when I saw it because I had just taken out my Teach & Inspire stamp set from Papertrey Ink so I could make cards for my two nieces who just got teaching jobs.

Linda's sketch is the perfect fit for the two cards I made:

How about those color combos?  Love!  At the time I sat down to make these cards, Nichole Heady had just posted the challenge for the August Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.  I love the different color combos in the challenge so I chose a couple of them for my cards.  You can see the color combos here.

And you can see Linda's awesome sketch here:

Freshly Made Sketches #100

Today is an amazing day at Freshly Made Sketches!  We've reached

Sketch #100!

Wow!  What a milestone!  And I am so excited to join in this special celebration.  Our very own Clean Team designer Cindy Hall was the very first Queen at Freshly Made Sketches, so it is only fitting that she be our hostess this week.

And it is only fitting that the Clean Team chose to use the very first sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for the 100th sketch challenge.  Sketch #1 debuted almost two years ago on September 7, 2011.  The sketch was designed by the very talented Lesley Croghan, who is also the creator of Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog.

In addition, past Freshly Made Sketches designers were invited to help us celebrate.  And I am thrilled they are joining us.  To see their entries, go to the Freshly Made sketches challenge blog.

Here is my card using Sketch #1:

Last week I got my box of new A Muse Studio Holiday catalog goodies.  I've been waiting for this little fellow!  And I love that he comes with a matching die.  I colored him with Copics and added Fun Flock to his hat, beard and gloves.  And how about that cheerful sentiment.  It's just one of the fun chalkboard-style sentiments in the new It's a Wonderful Life stamp set.  And, of course, I had to use the Peppermint Swirl stamp again.  I am going wear that stamp out!

And here is the sketch that started it all:

I really hope that you will have time to play with us this week because we have prizes to give away!  I am donating the new Silent Night stamp set from A Muse Studio for one lucky random winner.

Be sure to stop by Freshly Made Sketches and check out the wonderful creations from the Clean Team!  And see the other fun prizes that will given away!

And don't forget to submit your own creation for a chance to win!  I'd love to see your take (or re-take) on Sketch #1!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches #99

Happy Wednesday!  It's time again for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!   The very talented Rita is our hostess this week and I love, love her sketch.  I had so many ideas of what I could do with the sketch, so I searched through my stamp sets for the perfect coordinating images.  When I got to Hope from Paper Smooches, I knew that was what I was looking for.  I got out my pink Copics and created this simple card:

I am no pro with my Copics, so it took a few stamped images and practice runs until I was happy with my results.  I definitely need to color more often!  There is something very soothing about it for me though I must look the sight - I always take off my glasses and get my nose right down to the paper.  Getting older is no picnic and I hate that my close-up vision isn't what it used to be.  Sigh.

Here is Rita's awesome sketch:

I know you are going to have fun with it!

Be sure to stop by Freshly Made Sketches and check out the amazing creations from the Clean Team!  And please come and play.   I'd love to see your take on Rita's sketch!

Reminder: please turn off comment verification on your blog.  We love to leave comments, but with so many great entries, it becomes very time consuming and difficult.  We don't want any card missing out on a little love!  :-)

And now for a little teaser:  Check in next week for a very special event - our 100th sketch!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Waltzingmouse August Christmas Card Challenge

Hi there!  Time for the Waltzingmouse Christmas Card Challenge for August!

Deborah Fringes of Deborah's Gems is our hostess this month and brings us a color challenge: Lime Green, Raspberry and Tangerine! At first, I thought Yikes!  What am I going to do.  So I grabbed my Waltzingmouse stamps and started browsing through them looking for ideas.  Then I saw a "merry & bright" sentiment.  Well, what's more merry and bright than lime, raspberry and tangerine!

The sequins are actually pearl, not pink, but they look pink depending on the lighting.  These cards were quick and easy to make and very mailable.  Awesome all around!

A new challenge will be issued on the 10th of each month in the Waltzingmouse Christmas Card Challenges Forum.  If you're not already a forum member, it's easy and free to sign up.  The guidelines are also posted in the forum - right here.

I hope you join us!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches #98

Hello!  The new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches is here!  And this sketch is a really great one from a really awesome Jen Mitchell.  I had such a blast making this card:

I have no idea why, but when I saw the square in the sketch, I saw a porthole.  So I grabbed By the Tide and stamped several of the images.  I found the perfect patterned paper and created my porthole.  Kind of reminds me of the Submarine ride at Disneyland.  Fun!

And here is Jen's great sketch:
