Freshly Made Sketches #88

Welcome!  It's Wednesday and time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  And Jen Mitchell does not disappoint, she has an awesome one for you!  I needed to make a Thank You card for a friend at work to give to a young child.  I knew I wanted to use the cute fox image from Papertrey Ink's Hello Foxy stamp set so when I saw Jen's sketch, I knew it was perfect for what I wanted to do.

That little fox was really fun to color.  I colored three different ones before choosing which to use on the card.  I sponged a little Distress ink to create some grass to ground the fox and finished it off with a little butterfly.

Here is Jen's awesome sketch:

Waltzingmouse May Christmas Card Challenge

I'm late, I'm late ... yes, I should have posted my Waltzingmouse Christmas Card Challenge card on the 10th of this month.  I did have a card I made to post on that day, but I just did not like it and I couldn't bring myself to show it in public.

Charmaine Stack of Tweed Curtain is clearly the glitter queen!  Really, she is.  You can see her card here.  Me, not so much.  So I tossed my card and made a new one this past weekend.  So what does a girl do when the challenge is glitter and she just has no talent for it?  Glitter tape!  I love this stuff!  Glitter without getting it everywhere.  So I whipped up a quick, but elegant (I think) set of Christmas cards using my current favorite white base.

I love the added touch of the little gold pearls.  Super simple, yet very festive and still very mailable.  I may make a lot more of these.

If you love Christmas and Waltzingmouse stamps like I do, you need to join us every month!  It's a great way to get a head start on making your Christmas cards!

A new challenge will be issued on the 10th of each month in the Waltzingmouse Christmas Card Challenges Forum.  If you're not already a forum member, it's easy and free to sign up.  The guidelines are also posted in the forum - right here.

I hope you join us!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches #87

Happy Wednesday!  Jennifer Timko has a new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches!  As soon as I saw it, I thought "perfect for graduation cards!"  Plus I had a couple of graduation cards to make.  ;-)

Rebel that I am, I placed my stars opposite the flowers in the sketch.  Yup, that's me, a rebel.  Uh, actually, I didn't realize it until I added the photo to my post. ;-)

Freshly Made Sketches #86

Happy Wednesday!  Here we are again with another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Today's sketch comes from Amy O'Neill and it's a very versatile one!  I love it!  As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to use my new Eat Cake stamp set from A Muse Studio.  And I decided to finally try the chalkboard technique.  I love this technique but it freaks me out.  Why?  Because white ink on black paper usually doesn't turn out very well for me.  But I decided to go for it:

What do you think?  I heat embossed the white because I didn't like how it looked with just white ink stamped on the black.  I lightly sponged on some white ink to make it look like erasing on a chalkboard.  Then I decided to add the pop of yellow and red with the banner.  All that was left was to add a little something to the bottom.  After a lot of searching through stamp sets, I found a small flourish that added just the touch I wanted.  I am pretty happy with it.  It was easier than I thought.  I will definitely make more of these.

I think Amy's sketch is the perfect sketch to use the chalkboard technique.  If you haven't tried this yet, you really should!

Freshly Made Sketches #85

Hello!  It's Wednesday already and time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Narelle brings us a great new sketch!  So many possibilities!  Here is my take:

My current love affair with lots of white space continues.  So when I saw Narelle's sketch, I saw a white card base with a burst of fun, bright color in the center.  I really didn't want to add additional color to the top of the card, so instead I stamped a simple black/gray sentiment repeating across the top.  All in all, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

And, here is Narelle's awesome sketch!  You're gonna love it!
On a side note, sorry I haven't been posting much lately.  We've been in the middle of updating our master bedroom and my craft room was the dumping ground for everything that needed to be moved out of the way.  Extremely irritating when the new carpet was delayed three weeks; but it was worth the wait - I love it!  Most of the work is done, just little things to do now.  My craft room is slowly emptying out so I hope to get back to being more creative very soon.

Freshly Made Sketches #84

Happy May Day!  When I was little, my mom made little baskets with candies and we would take them around the neighborhood leaving them at each door.  I don't have a basket of candies for you, but I do have a new sketch for you!  Today I am playing hostess at Freshly Made Sketches!  Here is the card I made using my sketch:

I went for bold and simple!  I love the new Mermaid color at A Muse Studio, and Papaya is quickly becoming a new favorite!

And here is my sketch:
