Freshly Made Sketches #79

Hello!  Wow, can you believe March is almost over already?  Rita Wright has a new sketch for us today.  It's a really great sketch and since I needed to make a birthday card for my mother-in-law, I was looking for a great one.  And Rita, bless her heart, really came through!  I wanted to use some pretty patterned papers and this sketch is just perfect for that.  Here is what I came up with:

That patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye - so, so pretty.  I love multiple scallops on cards so I added just a couple rows of them here.  I almost added a button to my twine but I decided I liked just the bow by itself.  Sometimes it is hard to hold back and not keep adding things!

Here is Rita's great sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches #78

Happy Wednesday!  It's time for a new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and I am so happy to be sharing with you today!  Jennifer Mitchell has given us a really great sketch to work with and I think it is just perfect for that spring theme.

I am in Albuquerque while I am writing this post, visiting my nieces who are on spring break at the University of New Mexico.  The daffodils and trees are just blooming here and there is a fresh breeze in the air that can only mean spring is here.  So my card, which I made before I came here, matches my mood perfectly:

I used the Birds & Blooms stamp set from Papertrey Ink which has a gorgeous wreath and can be filled with lots of pretty flowers for any season.  I choose yellow, orange and pink for spring.  Papertrey has come out with a die for the wreath now, but since I didn't have it yet, I fussy cut it.  It was pretty easy to do, but I skipped the inside.  I thought the wreath needed something a bit extra, so I added the pretty blue birds.  I am very happy with how the card turned out.

Here is the awesome sketch from Jen:

Freshly Made Sketches #77

Hello!  We've got a great new sketch for you at Freshly Made Sketches!  Jennifer Timko is your host this week and she went all out with this sketch!  With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, I was itching to make an Irish blessings card.  And when I saw Jennifer's sketch, I knew it would be perfect for my card:

I used the New Leaf pattern paper pack from Papertrey Ink.  I love these paper packs because they contain 6 different classic patterns in the same color.  They are great for coordinating!

I finished the inside of the card using an Irish blessing from Waltzingmouse Stamps.  I love it!

And here is the fabulous sketch from Jennifer:

Waltzingmouse March Christmas Card Challenge

Hello!  It's time for the March Waltzingmouse Christmas Card Challenge!  This month's challenge comes from Cassie Jones of Paper Addiction:  Use citrus green and navy.

Another great challenge!  I decided it was finally time to ink up Cottage Christmas and break out my Copics.  This is what I came up with:

This was definitely not a quick card to make and I will only be making this one.  It was fun but I don't have the patience to mass produce it.

After coloring the cottage, I decided it needed something extra so I brought out my Diamond Glitter from A Muse Studio and added it to the roof and little ledges on the cottage.  To create the snowy scene, I took some Enchanted Evening cardstock from PTI and sprayed it with Mister Huey's Calico White from Studio Calico.  I love how it looks like it is snowing at night.  Lastly, I added some snowdrifts that I die cut from some fine white glitter paper from DCWV.  I stamped the sentiment right on the glitter paper in black, but it came out looking gray - if you look closely, the sentiment looks like a pretty glittery silver.

If you love Christmas and Waltzingmouse stamps like I do, you need to join us every month!  It's a great way to get a head start on making your Christmas cards!

A new challenge will be issued on the 10th of each month in the Waltzingmouse Christmas Card Challenges Forum.  If you're not already a forum member, it's easy and free to sign up.  The guidelines are also posted in the forum - right here.

I hope you join us!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches #76

Hello!  We have a new sketch for you today at Freshly Made Sketches!  Not only that, we have a new look and new design team members!  I am so excited to announce that I will continue on as a permanent member of the Clean Team.  I am so honored to be included in this circle of such talented and sweet ladies!

I am also hosting the sketch this week.  The inspiration for today's sketch came to me when I was sitting at my desk at work and glanced up at my Dilbert daily calendar.  I get a lot of layout ideas at work.  It's not unusual for me to be sitting in a meeting looking at the slides in some presentation and thinking, "that would make a great layout for a card."  Scribble, scribble on the margins of my notepad. I've got lots of these scribbles laying around.

And when I saw the gorgeous feathers in the new Make a Wish stamp set from A Muse Studio, I knew I had to use them on this card based on the sketch:

Here is my calendar-inspired sketch:

I hope you like my sketch and I hope you have fun with it.

Happy Anniversary Folk Art

Happy Anniversary to my parents!

Today they celebrate 56 years together!  I used my new Fancy Folk Art stamp set and dies from Papertrey Ink to make this card for them.

While searching for inspiration, I found this card by Debbie Olsen and I CASEd her coloring (except for the glitter).  I wasn't feeling particularly creative so I was grateful for a little help from Debbie!

That's it!  I hope you have a wonderful crafty weekend!
