Happy Holidays

This is a CASE of a card I saw in March/April 2013 issue of Paper Crafts Magazine by Mignon Jessica Bear.  I thought it was so pretty that I tore out the page and kept it with my Christmas supplies.  I loved the idea of making the whole card a banner.  And I loved the red snowflakes, so I decided to use red snowflakes too.  I adapted my card to fit the standard A2 card size.  I decided that this would be the last Christmas card I would make this year.

I hope that you have a very merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

I Love You

Hello everyone!  I am in my happy place right now and loving it!  I am so lucky that my work shuts down starting Christmas Eve through New Year's Day.  With several extra days of vacation I get two full weeks off.  Yay!

This year we are not traveling anywhere for the holidays, it will be just our little family.  I am all ready for Christmas - presents are bought and wrapped/under the tree or packed/hipped.  So now I can start working on my long TO DO list.  I have some not so fun things on the list like clean out the linen closet, clean patio and trim shrubs, organize financial papers, etc., and some fun things like get my new SU catalog order ready to place, get my Silhouette out and really learn how to use it, and going for lots of walks with Marley.  I made a good start already yesterday with cleaning the linen closet and craft room.

For fun yesterday I got my December Papertrey Ink release order and had to stop and play a little.  I just love the new Cover Plate: Hearts die and the coordinating Happy Hearts stamp set!  I used it to make this card:

I ran the cover plate die through my Vagabond and punched out lots of little hearts in white card stock. I then used the Happy Hearts stamp set to stamp each heart in a pretty pattern and color.  I love that the stamp is a little bigger than the punched out heart so that you ink up the whole heart and have no border.  I then laid the cover plate punch out over my card base and used the heart punch outs to place my stamped hearts.  When I removed the cover plate punch out, I was left with a scattering of hearts on my card.  I added an appropriate sentiment and voila!  Fun!  It's actually a pretty quick and easy card.  Most of the time was spent in stamping all the little hearts, but so easy.

That's it for now.  I hope you are having a wonderful and crafty weekend!

Freshly Made Sketches #116

Hello!  Can you believe how we're just flying through December!  I am so totally not ready for Christmas!  The tree is up, a few presents have been bought and wrapped, and Christmas cards are ready to be mailed.  But I feel like there is still so much to do!  How I love to take a break and sit at my craft table.  Probably do that a little too much.  And this is the time of year I can play Hallmark Christmas movies in the background while I craft.  I like that.

Today, the lovely and so creative Narelle brings us a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  And what a fun one it is!  Here's the card I made using it:

Freshly Made Sketches #115

Hello there!  I'm sorry that I haven't been keeping up with my blog posts lately.  Things are a bit crazy right now - long hours at work - and my mojo keeps trying to slip away.  Over the long Thanksgiving weekend I managed to pull off another big purge in the craft room, mostly paper this time.  And we managed to get out and get a Christmas tree and it's all decorated - woohoo!  We still have the outside lights to put up, but so far we're ahead of last year.

So, what's new?  A new sketch, that's what!  Jennifer Timko is our lovely hostess at Freshly Made Sketches this week and she has a super versatile sketch for us!  I decided to use the sketch to showcase some really pretty patterned paper.  And, of course, it has snowflakes on it!  What?!

I have to admit I struggled with this card!  I wanted so badly to add some bling.  I finally appeased that need by adding the little snowflake with a tiny rhinestone.

Here is Jennifer's great sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches #114

Hello there!  It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Yay!  And even more exciting…well for me, anyway… the new sketch is MY sketch!

Here is the card I made using my sketch:

I knew I wanted to go all white, especially with that sentiment (love it!).  But the white glitter strips did nothing for the card, in fact, it looked very flat.  I found some very light blue glitter paper and it worked very well.  And I couldn't help but add a few clear sequins.

What do you think?  Want to play along?  Here is my sketch:

Be sure to stop by Freshly Made Sketches and check out the wonderful creations from the Clean Team!  I've gotten a sneak peek and they are pretty awesome!  And please, please come and play.  I'd love to see your take on my sketch!

Holiday Sparkle

A quick post this morning with a sparkly holiday card.  This was a quick card which I wasn't even planning to make until I picked up my snowflake dies to put away and was inspired by these two that were still attached together.

Simple, clean, quick and mailable!  Yay!

I'm submitting this card at the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: CAS-ual Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Merry Merry Pillow Boxes

Hello!  I hope you are having a great weekend!  I've been so busy lately, mostly looking for my mojo.  It seems to have gone on holiday early!  I managed to find some yesterday afternoon so I could make these little holiday pillow boxes for the ladies in my golf club:

This was a fun little project.  And the best part was making the little tags.  I didn't have any brilliant ideas for tags this year until I saw this post by Maile Belles.  This appeals to me on so many levels, but mostly because of the patterned paper.  Such a fun way to use all that patterned paper I have.

I pulled out some pretty holiday Stampin' Up DSP from last year and the cute little lady golfer stamp from A Muse Studio.  My Rhubarb Stalk ink from Memento was too juicy but it was the perfect color so I used it anyway.

Yay!  One more thing knocked off my holiday to do list.  Now I have a couple of birthday cards to make today.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Freshly Made Sketches #113

Hello!  It's Wednesday already and there's a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Time is just flying by!  Last night I made cranberry jello for a Thanksgiving potluck at work later today.  How did we get to Thanksgiving already?!

Our very talented Cindy has an awesome sketch for you today.  I've had this fun patterned paper collection from Crate Paper sitting on my desk for a while - I just love the fun patterns and colors!

I framed the sentiment strip with glitter tape but unfortunately the photo doesn't show how pretty it really is.  And how fun is that sentiment?

Here is Cindy's awesome sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches #112

Hello there!  It's time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Jen Brum is our lovely hostess this week and her sketch is a really fun one!

I love SNOWFLAKES!  And they are my crafting downfall - I buy snowflake stamps, snowflake dies, snowflake embossing folders, snowflake patterned paper … I think you get the picture!  My Christmas cards are all made and the dominant theme was clearly snowflakes this year.  And I obviously still have snowflakes on the brain with my card for the new sketch this week:

I thought I was all done buying Christmas patterned papers this year but I just couldn't resist the Bundled Up collection from Crate Paper.  Such pretty papers and colors, like this gorgeous snowflake paper.

Here is Jen's sketch!  You're gonna love it!

Freshly Made Sketches #111

Hello!  It's my favorite time of the week again - Wednesday!  And at Freshly Made Sketches  Linda Callahan has blessed us with an awesome new sketch.  LOVE it!

Well, it's been a bit quiet on my blog-o the past couple of weeks.  I was off on a little vacation visiting with my sister and crafting up a christmas card storm (I made 36 cards and she made twice that many!). Then when I got back, before I could get back into the swing of things, I caught a cold.  I'm pretty sure I caught it from someone on the plane - Grrrr!  It wasn't a terrible cold but enough to knock out my mojo for a few days.

But I did manage to spend some time in my craft room this past weekend and whipped up this little gem  using Linda's sketch:

I just love this poinsettia die set from Poppystamps!  I was hoping it would arrive before my trip to my sister's but it was held up when another item in my order went on back order.  Grrr!  Hate when that happens.  But it was waiting for me when I got back home so all is good now. ;-)

Here is Linda's fabulous sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches #110

Hello!  It's Wednesday and time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Rita is our host this week and she really came up with a great sketch!  I thought of so many things to do with it, but I ultimately went with a birthday card since my stash is getting low:

I've seen some cards that have had brightly colored leaves on them and I really liked them, so I decided to use this small cluster of leaves from the PTI Meadow Greens stamp set with some bright, bold colors of ink.  I love how they pop on the woodgrain embossed panel.

This is Rita's great sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches #109

Happy Wednesday!  There's a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches today!  Jen Mitchell is our host this week and I just love her clean sketch.  So much room for your creativity and imagination to run wild!  I went a little wild - Edgar Allen Poe wild.

I love this stamp set from Waltzingmouse, the images are so detailed and so vintage.  I really kind of wanted to do some distressing, but I decided to keep it really clean and just added several sequins instead.

And this is Jen's super clean sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches #107

Happy Wednesday!  There is a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches today!  Jennifer Timko is our host this week and she brings us a really awesome sketch!  I love the super clean layout which opens up so many possibilities for card design!

Here is what I came up with:

I made this card on World Card Making Day.  I have been making a number of cards for the A Muse Studio Stamp Out Breast Cancer promotion and, of course, I had to make one using Jen's sketch.  When I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use a multi-dimensional butterfly accent.  I am really happy with how it turned out.
