Happy 55th Anniversary

Later this week my parents celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary.  Way to go folks!

I decided to join the Wednesday Sketch Challenge at My Favorite Things and use the MFTWSC60 sketch to make their card. I really like the sketch.  Here is what I came up with:

It's the first time I've used the By the Numbers stamps and dies from My Favorite Things and it is definitely fun.  I liked stamping the polka dots on the numbers with the little background polka dot stamp.  Very cute!

I'm off to mail it now!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Sweet Day

Last month I joined in a sketch challenge for the first time over at the i heart 2 stamp blog - Sketch for You to Try (SFYTT).  Fun sketch!  Well, the February sketch is another fun one!  I pulled out another paper collection I haven't used yet (oops!) - Basic Grey Picadilly, a bright colorful set of pretty papers.

Those strawberries are just so cute and I knew I had to use them for this card.

Happy Monday!  Thanks for stopping by!

You're the Bees Knees

Today I have a card for Mojo Monday sketch challenge #229.  Awesome sketch, works wonderfully with patterned paper collections.  For this one, I pulled out my Echo Park Times & Seasons collection.  I can't believe I hadn't used it yet - it's an absolutely adorable vintage and masculine set of papers.

I love mixing up patterned papers.  And I really love how this card turned out.

No cardmaking today.  My scrapping buddies are coming over for a day of scrapbooking and I'm going to continue work on my Project Life albums.

I hope you're having a great weekend!

For Baby

Yesterday after work I stopped by my favorite local scrapbook store and picked up the new Graphic 45 collections.  So, of course, I had to play right away.  We've been having a lot babies born at work these days so another baby card for my stash is always a good idea.  And because these cards need to be larger to accommodate all the extra messages and signatures and usually will end up containing money or gift cards, I went with something a little different this time.  So I broke open the Little Darlings collection and went with a vintage look.

I also decided to use Sketch #253 from Card Positioning Systems for this card.  It's a awesome sketch!

I took a full 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock and cut it down to 8 1/8" x 11".  Then I scored it at 4" and 8" and folded the end sections inward (3" section inside).  Then I decorated the inside 3" section to form a pocket for money or gift cards; the outside 3" section is just covered with patterned paper.  The two inside 4" sections are left blank for messages and signatures.  The 4" section forming the front of the card was then decorated with patterned paper and an embellishment.

This is what it looked like when finished and folded:

I stamped the stork image from the Graphic 45 Little Darlings Cling Stamp 1 set on vintage cream cardstock with Canyon Clay dye ink, both from Papertrey Ink.  This ink was the closest match to the patterned paper -- stamped off once on scrap paper first to produce a lighter image.  I really like how it turned out.

Here I opened the card and unfolded the 3" section so you can see the inside pocket.  I am really pleased with how this card came together.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend!

Wishing You a Beautiful Forever

Today I have a card I made for the February Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge.  I used the Week #3 sketch -- a great sketch, especially for my favorite, patterned papers:

I do like dark blue and yellow together and I really like this paper collection by Teresa Collins.  And since this flower chipboard accent looked similar to a flower stamp I already had, I used it to embellish the inside of the card:

My card today is one I made for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #85.  I decided to pull out one of my favorite WMS stamp sets - Halloween Party - and make a halloween card:

This is an awesome sketch and I really had fun making this card.  I probably went a little crazy with the distressing tool, but I think it really adds the finishing touch the card needed.  And who am I kidding, distressing is fun.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Congratulations

Hi!  I had a great weekend in the wine country with the family.  It was very relaxing -- an internet outage made sure of that!  Hehe!

Today I have a card I made for the Taylored Expressions sketch challenge.  I used Sketch #152 which is a really fun sketch.  And I used some new Teresa Collins patterned papers I got last week, such pretty colors.  I pulled out a TE stamp set I haven't used in a while - Dream Big.  It's a great set for graduation cards.

Happy Vacation

A couple of weeks ago I pulled out one of my Graphic 45 paper collections and was determined to make a card with it.  I absolutely love the Graphic 45 designs but they can be hard to use for cards.  There are so many vivid patterns and colors in this collection, I kept thinking tropical vacation.  Then I remembered that I have Papertrey Ink's Aloha stamp set which I think is a perfect pairing:

I kept it really simple so as not to take away from the beautiful patterned papers.

For the inside of the card, I used the flower stamp and Rest & Relaxation sentiment from the Aloha stamp set.  I added the "Wishing you" from the Papertrey Ink Wishing You stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by!

Gone Fishing

Hubby and I are off for a long President's Day weekend of rest and relaxation in the wine country.  We will also be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary.  Look's like the weather is going to hold up so it should be great!  I'll be back later next week!

Happy Easter

Spring is definitely here in Northern California!  The trees are blossoming and budding.  My bright pink camellias are in full bloom and the weather has been awesome.  So, how can I not be thinking spring?  When I saw the Mojo Monday Sketch #228, I knew it would be perfect for a spring/easter card.

This is what I came up with:

And this time, I made two of them for my stash:

A Rainbow and Birthday Wishes

On Monday (Feb 13), while I was out walking Marley and it was lightly sprinkling, I climbed to the top of the hill near my house and came up on this awesome full rainbow.  In fact, there were two rainbows; the outer one was faint, but it was there.  I couldn't capture the whole rainbow in a photo from my iPhone so I took a short video of it.  Obviously, I'm not a videographer, but I hope you enjoy it anyway!

Rainbow with Mt. Diablo in the background.

WMS Christmas Card Challenge - February

February is almost half over and I hadn't made a single Christmas card? What's up with that?  Actually I wanted to but I was waiting for the Waltzingmouse Stamps Christmas Card Challenge for February.  I love this challenge because my favorite Waltzingmouse stamps are holiday stamps so I have a lot of them.

This month, Lynn presented some inspiration photos for the challenge.  I just had to pick the one with red and turquoise.  I pulled out my October Afternoon Holiday Style patterned paper collection and made this card:

I love the colors and vintage feel of the papers with this Waltzingmouse stamp.

I popped up the layers but I think it is still very mailable.

And, as usual, I made four of them for my stash.

Thanks for stopping by!

Heart Buster

More playing with my new October Afternoon paper collection!  So cute!  The Miscellany pack of accents contained this cute little cowboy and saying:

Isn't he sweet?  I think this makes a sweet valentine card or even an I'm Sorry card.

And the sketch I used was from the Card Positioning System  5th Anniversary celebration.  The Day 14 sketch is perfect for creating a fun card.  I can't believe I've kept up with all the sketches, only one left!

Thanks for stopping by!

My second post today with a card I made this past weekend using a Hero Arts stamp that I fell in love with at my local scrapbook store but then it just sat staring at me in my craft room.  When I saw Sketchbook Saturday challenge #48, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with that stamp:

Make a Wish

Papertrey Ink is celebrating their 5th anniversary and the contests continue.  For today's contest, Nichole challenged everyone to create a project using a color combo favorite of one of the design team members.  I chose Lisa Johnson's fave combo - kraft, pure poppy, spring moss and aqua mist and made this card:

The pure poppy, spring moss and aqua mist inks are all Papertrey's new formula dye inks.  I really like them and I especially like that now I can get pure poppy in a cube instead of a large ink pad.

I also made a pleasant discovery.  One of the papers in the My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline Dolled Up collection matches the stamps and colors - especially the little red flowers.  So I used it as a liner for the envelope.

Thanks for stopping by!
