You're the Man

I don't really need any more Father's Day cards but I got on a roll over the weekend and made six more - three different designs (I almost always make two cards at a time).  The one I am showcasing today was super simple:

I love Graphic 45 papers and I've had The Proper Gentleman for a while.  I love this image and really wanted to use it but I also didn't want to cover it up with embellishments.  Papertrey's Double Banner die was the perfect addition.  I used Fine Linen cardstock and stamped it with script text from their Text Style stamp set.  Then I stamped over that with the "you're the man" sentiment from Practicing Creativity.  I really like how it turned out.

Details:
Cardstock:  PTI True Black and Fine Linen
Patterned Paper: Graphic 45 The Proper Gentleman
Stamps: Practicing Creativity You're the Man, PTI Background Basics: Text Style, PTI My Hero, My Dad (sentiment inside)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Creamy Caramel
Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

Hoppy Birthday!

I finally pulled out my Papertrey's Boy Basics: Frog Hop stamp set and some of their Simply Chartreuse felt and made this card:

That frog is so cute and I tried to make it look like he was hopping up by adding dimensional foam to pop him out.  Not sure I pulled that off but he's awfully cute anyway, especially with those wiggle eyes.

Details:
Cardstock: PTI Summer Sunrise and Stampers Select White
Patterned Paper:  DCWV mat stack papers (unknown)
Stamps: PTI Boy Basics: Frog Hop
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Bahama Blue
Other: PTI Simply Chartreuse felt, PTI 1 3/4" Limitless Layers die, wiggle eyes
Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

Congrats You Did It!

Another card for my daughter.  This one was just too much fun to make!  I was checking out a new website recently, The Dies Have It, and found a post showcasing the Fashion Doll set of dies from Quickutz.  These looked like so much fun so I searched online and found them for sale on eBay for a very reasonable price.  And so, with my daughter graduating from FIDM in June, I just had to make her another card.

How cute is that?  Except for the card base, it was made entirely using scraps from previous cards I've made.  My, I wish I had a figure like that!  Alas, even when I was a young pup, I never had legs like that.

Details:
Cardstock: PTI Smokey Shadow and Fine Linen
Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary Little Boy Blue - Little Man, Webster's Pages Trendsetter collection, and other scraps from my stash
Stamps: PTI Signature Greetings

Papertrey May Blog Hop Challenge

The theme of the challenge this month is Flowers:
May is the month when many flowers finally go into full bloom after a long winter's sleep.  For the blog hop this month we want to see your favorite take on flowers.  You can stamp backgrounds, create custom floral embellishments, showcase unique flower center additions (buttons, rhinestones, beads, etc...), flowers die-cut from different materials (like fabric, felt, vellum, etc...) or anything else you can dream up! We are looking forward to seeing all of your amazing creations!
I decided to use the flower from the Friendship Jar Fillers stamp set.  This flower played a large part in my decision to buy this stamp set along with the Friendship Jar stamp set, and subsequently the Friendship Jar filler stamp sets that came later.  I already had one that was colored with copics, so being practical (or should I say lazy), I used it to create this card:

I think the papers from the October Afternoon Modern Homemaker paper pad work well with the flowers in the jar.  And the tiny tag tied around the jar with rustic jute was the perfect finishing touch.  I love these tiny tags.

Thanks for looking!  Now check out the rest of the Blog Hop participants on the list over at Nichole's blog.  Have a great Blog Hop day!

Details:
Cardstock: PTI Kraft and Rustic White
Patterned Paper: October Afternoon Modern Homemaker collection
Stamps: PTI Friendship Jar, Friendship Jar Fillers and Tiny Tags
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black and Rhubarb Stalk
Other: PTI Tiny Tags dies, My Favorite Things Open Scallop Border die, copics
Size:  5" x 7"

Thanks for the Memories, Dad.

Just a quick post with a Father's Day card I made over the weekend.  I liked the patterned paper so much I didn't want to do too much to cover it up, so I cut a large zig zag border and hung a couple of tiny tags from it.  Love those tiny tags.

I used a stamp from Flourishes for the sentiment inside the card.  I love this sentiment:

Details:
Cardstock: PTI Dark Chocolate, Fine Linen, Ripe Avocado and Rustic Cream
Patterned Paper: TPC Studios Reel Me In Dad
Stamps: PTI Tiny Tags, Flourishes What a Catch
Ink: PTI Dark Chocolate
Other: PTI Tiny Tags dies, PTI large zig zag die

Run Far Fast

Last week I made a card for a friend for her brother's birthday.  He is an ultra runner (I can't even imagine, I don't like to run at all).  I dug through my huge sticker stash leftover from my years of scrapbooking and found the perfect embellishments for the card.  I think it turned out pretty good.

Cardstock: PTI Smokey Shadow, True Black
Patterned Paper: Bo Bunny Press Xtreme Teen collection
Stamps: PTI Inside & Out: Birthday
Ink: PTI Fresh Snow
Other: Karen Foster Running Phrases stickers

Rockin' Birthday

I don't have any cards that I have to do this weekend so it is just play time.  I pulled out my new Boy Basics: Rock On stamp set with the cute guitar die and matched it with some cute guitar paper I got at my local scrapbook store.  I had lotsa fun making these two cards.  And I really mixed and matched stamps from three different stamp companies.

Dreams Believed

Today I have the graduation card I made for the last of our graduating student assistants at work.  This young lady is quite impressive, smart and super nice.  She is moving into the city with some friends and starting a new job with a pharmaceutical company.  I know she will be successful in anything she does.

Drink Up!

Today I have the birthday card I made for my brother-in-law.  I used some patterned paper I got a while ago at a Scrapbook Expo.  I think it fits my brother-in-law quite well.

It's hard to see in the photo, but I used Liquid Applique for the first time for the foam on the glasses. I really like the effect.  I think it will be fun to use for snow on Christmas cards.

Patterned Paper: Creative Imaginations Be a Man
Stamps: PTI Birthday Basics

The World is Yours!

I have another graduation card for one of our student assistants (we have 3 graduating college this year).  This one is for a young man who loves to travel.  While I think the new Road Trip stamp set from Papertrey would have been perfect, I don't have it yet (but it's on its way to me this week!) so I used some pretty map paper I found at my local scrapbook store.

I think this sentiment is perfect for a graduate.  I didn't have a stamp for it, so I made it myself on the computer.  Isn't the Spring Moss-Enchanted Evening color combo pretty?

Details:
Cardstock: PTI Spring Moss, Enchanted Evening, Rustic White
Patterned Paper: House of 3 Daily Junque Map
Stamps: PTI Father Knows Best, Label Basics, Scattered Showers (sentiment inside card)

My Dies and Punches Book

This is another installment in my gradual organization of tools in my new stamping and cardmaking world.  I have collected so many dies and punches that I forget what I have.  So, after seeing ideas from members of the Papertrey Ink Forum, I decided to make a book that showcases every die and punch I have.  I finally did this several weeks ago.  I took pictures but am just now getting around to posting them.

This took a whole weekend to do.  By the time I was done, (1) I didn't want to see another die or punch for a long time, (2) I realized that I have a ridiculous number of dies, and (3) cheap black paper probably wasn't a great idea as I had black fibers and chads everywhere.

Here are some photos, sorry about the quality:

I stored each diecut and its negative in 5x7 sheet protecters.

This is how thick it ended up.  It is now in a 2.5" binder.

As much work as it was to do this, I love it.  I use it all the time now to find the die I want to use.  One more organization project I can cross off my list.  Yay!

Papertrey INKers May Challenge

I love this month's INKers challenge!  May's challenge is to CASE a card from your favorite designer.  Well, I love the Papertrey Design Team so this is an easy one for me. They are all my favorite!

I needed to make some graduation cards for several student assistants that work in our department.  One of the young men is totally into video games, so using Papertrey's Boy Basics: Game On stamp set was a no brainer.  And I remembered a card that Nichole Heady showcased during the April stamp release that I really liked.

Click here to see Nichole's card.

Here is my version:

I kept most of it the same, I just changed up the patterned paper and the main sentiment and eliminated some of the embellishments.  See how Nichole used the grid stamp on the base cardstock.  Genius!  I wouldn't have thought of that and yet it is the perfect touch.  I hope to be that good someday.

Details:
Cardstock: PTI Smokey Shadow, Kraft, Spring Rain, Summer Sunrise
Patterned Paper:  ?? (from my stash)
Stamps: PTI Boy Basics: Game On, Boy Basics: Simple Circles, My Hero, My Dad, Mini Scrapbook Series: Library Ledger, Scattered Showers (sentiment inside card)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark Watermark
Other: Fiskars Star punch
Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Father's Day!

I had a great weekend!  My scrapping friends came over for our monthly crop.  I love these crops because I get so much crafting done.  You'll see some of cards I made throughout this week here on the blog.

So now my friends think I'm pretty goofy.  Why?  Well, Saturday night was Papertrey Ink's May release.  And I had to stop my crafting to see the stamp release, make my final list and then, of course, make my order.  They thought it was pretty weird that I "had" to do this.  What can I say?  I got my order in and can't wait to get it.  In the meantime, I have a Father's Day card to show you that I made using a stamp set I got in April's release - My Hero, My Dad:

I just love the corrugated cardboard stamp in this set.  I've used it a lot already.  It is going to be so easy to make cards for Dad, or any guy, with this set.

Stamps: PTI My Hero, My Dad and Father Knows Best (sentiment inside card)

Another Pet Sympathy Card?!

I don't know what is happening now, but I've made three pet sympathy cards in the last month alone.  And then I went to Dawn McVey's blog last night and read the very sad story of the sudden loss of her dog.  We lost one of our sweet cats several years ago very suddenly and unexpectedly and I still get very sad about it.  Cheeto and I had a special bond that I didn't have with our other two cats so it was especially devastating for me when she died.

Here is the latest pet sympathy card I made:

I think the paper pattern goes perfectly with the sentiment from Papertrey's With Sympathy: Loss of Pet.  Here is the inside, using another sentiment from the stamp set:

Details:
Cardstock: PTI Ocean Tides and Dark Chocolate, cream cardstock from my stash (for card inside)
Patterned Paper: Deja Views Dog Days Collection
Stamps: PTI With Sympathy: Loss of Pet, Hero Arts I Love My Dog

Hubby's Birthday

Yesterday was my husband's birthday.  A while ago I saw a cute stamp set from October Afternoon and knew exactly what I wanted to do.  He loves to go hiking with our dog so I know this would be perfect for him.  I found some 12x12 paper in my stash that was perfect but I wanted to use most of it in the card, so I made a tall skinny tri-fold card.  I love how it turned out.  Here is the front of the card:

The cute little dog is from My Favorite Things Pure Innocence Tree Swing stamp set.  He looks like our dog who is always looking up in trees for squirrels.  Here is what the card looks like when open:

Here's a close up of the cute bear:

I stamped the bear on PTI's Dark Chocolate felt and cut him out.  I added a wiggle eye, so cute!  I love that the bear is holding the map upside down.  And the tiny little stamps from Papertrey's Enjoy the Ride stamp set were perfect for the signpost.

Details:
Cardstock: PTI Kraft and Fine Linen
Patterned Paper: Adornit Carolee Creations Camping Collection
Stamps: October Afternoon Campfire, MFT Pure Innocence Tree Swing, PTI Big Birthday Wishes and Enjoy the Ride
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, PTI Dark Chocolate
Other: PTI Dark Chocolate felt, wiggle eye, copics
Size: 12" x 9.5"

My Craft Room

I did some reorganizing and cleaning in my craft room this past weekend.  It was so nice and clean when I was done, I thought I should take pictures.  You don't see it like this very often.

I keep two tables set up all the time, I like to spread out.  When my friends
come over for our monthly crop, I bring out a third table. I like all my supplies
right behind me when I am working. Easy to just turn and grab what I need.

Most of my stamps are in cds in the 4-drawer JetMax cubes.
See my pretty Papertrey cardstock and ribbon?

In the closet I keep my copics, small patterned paper pads,
envelopes and extra paper. All within easy reach.

My printer, cricut and cuttlebug station.  I currently keep my dies in
Quickutz magnetic folders but I'm not totally happy with them.
I just haven't figured out what else to do with them yet.

This is my happy place!

Bravo!

I just love the Trendsetter patterned paper collection from Webster's Pages.  And with my daughter graduating from FIDM in June, it just seems the perfect collection of papers to make cards for her.  I wanted to use the full size models on the 12 x12 paper so I created this tall skinny card.

That's not all -- it's a tall, skinny tri-fold card.  I got all the models on the card just like I wanted.  I added some inspirational words and voila!  The perfect card for my daughter!  And she should have gotten it by now.
