Birthday Poodles

The card I am showcasing today was a super fun one to make.  I needed a birthday card for my sister-in-law.  I'll be away on vacation during her birthday so I wanted to get it done and sent out before I leave.  She got two toy poodle puppies about a year ago and they are just the cutest, fun little dogs.  So I knew I wanted to incorporate them on the card.  I searched through my stamps and found a cute poodle stamp that I stamped out twice and then cut them out.  I added some subtle glitter with a clear Spica pen.  So cute, I wish you could see it in the photo.

I decorated the inside of the card too:

Cardstock: PTI Smokey Shadow, Stampers Select White, Pure Poppy
Patterned Paper:  My Mind's Eye Lime Twist Life of the Party collection
Stamps: Recollections (Michaels) Woof Woof, PTI Communique Curves Sentiments and Inside & Out: Birthday
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Other: PTI Edgers #3 die, PTI Pure Poppy ribbon
Size: 5" x 5"

Graduate Thank You

I made a set of thank you cards for Kim.  As soon as I had an idea of what I wanted to do, I could have just kicked myself for not getting the new Happy Trails stamp set from the Papertrey Ink June release.  It was on my "maybe" list and I decided to pass.  I do this all the time, I regret not getting a stamp set and then end up buying it the next month or even placing a second order.  Well, I had to do without Happy Trails, so I searched through the stamp sets that I had and found a workable trail in Baby Button Bits.  Yes!

I stuck with a simple white base and made the cards one layer for easy mailing.  Here are some of the cards I made:

I just couldn't pass up adding a touch of bling.

Cardstock: PTI Stampers Select White
Stamps: PTI For the Graduate, Think Big Favorites #5 and Baby Button Bits
Ink: Jenni Bowlin Spice Tin, Memento Tuxedo Black and Rhubarb Stalk
Other: Rhinestones from Recollecions (Michaels)
Size: 5.5" x 4.25"

Papertrey June Blog Hop Challenge

We thought we would start a short inspirational series with the Blog Hops for the next few months as a fun way to spice things up!  This month we are providing you with a beautiful photo to help trigger some creative ideas with color!  This inspirational photo is just dreamy and it's the perfect thing to give you a creative jumpstart that will lead to nothing but fabulous results!  We look forward to seeing everyone's interpretations using this inspiration!

I had a lot going on this month and almost forgot about the challenge so I quickly made a card this morning.  What struck me the most in the photo were the colors.  So I decided to make a card that highlighted those colors. I went through my inks and chose colors that I think closely (or even loosely - lol) matched the ones in the photo and made the following card using one of the small Mehndi Medallion stamps:

Thanks for looking!  Now check out the rest of the Blog Hop participants on the list over at Nichole's blog.  Have a great Blog Hop day!

World Famous Birthday

This is a card that I made a couple of weeks ago.  I love the color combinations in Papertrey's Road Trip paper collection. So, using it and the Ad Sense stamp set, I easily made this birthday card:

We came home from our trip to SoCal to temperatures in the high 90's and no working air conditioner.  We are replacing our air conditioner and furnace and we had to wait until after our trip for it to be installed.  So we had to go through a couple of days of temps in the house of up to 85 degrees, something we are definitely not used to.  And since my craft room is upstairs, I've had to stay away because it was too hot up there.  But the new air conditioner is going in today, the guys are here and working on it as I write this.  Yay!

Cardstock: PTI Kraft and Terracotta Tile
Patterned Paper: PTI Road Trip
Stamps: PTI Ad Sense, Road Trip and Fancy Flourishes
Ink: PTI Terracotta Tile, Memento Tuxedo Black
Other: PTI Ad Sense die
Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

Congratulations Kim!

Last Saturday we attended our daughter's graduation from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles.  What a fun day!  The ceremony was held in the Staples Center with over 7000 people attending.  Wow!  It was amazing.  We stayed at the Marriott at LA Live which is next to the Staples Center on Friday and Saturday nights.  I'm so glad we did because everything was so convenient and close and we didn't have to deal with traffic and parking at all.  After the ceremony we had a wonderful dinner with family at Rock N Fish at LA Live.

Kim with her proud mom and dad!

She is currently working part-time for a wonderful family-owned apparel company that is breaking out a new line of clothing but is looking for a full-time job now.  Good luck Kim!  We love you!

Papertrey INKers June Challenge - Take 2

I recently got a new stamp set from My Favorite Things and wanted to ink it up right away.  It's called Pretty Pocket and is a fun set.  Last weekend I made a quick birthday card using it and Papertrey's Tag Sale #2 die (a favorite of mine).  Yup, I made another tag card for the INKers June Challenge.

Isn't that pocket perfect for a tag or gift card?

The birthday tag.  LOVE it!

Yesterday we attended our daughter's final presentation at FIDM and she totally nailed it!  We are so proud of her.  Her teachers told us it was one of the best presentations.  Tomorrow is the graduation ceremony!  Yay!

Have a great day!!

Papertrey INKers June Challenge

My girlfriends were over for our monthly crop last Saturday and it was a very productive day.  I made half a dozen cards and re-organized my scraps. Thanks for the great idea Stephanie!

I played with my new Est 1776 stamp set from Papertrey.  It is perfect for Fourth of July; I love the distressed look of the stamps.  I was inspired by this card by the uber-talented Dawn McVey.  I also thought this was the perfect time to work on the INKers June Challenge which is to make a tag.  I had so much fun making this card:

Cardstock: PTI Kraft and Pure Poppy
Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye American Made collection
Stamps: PTI Est. 1776
Ink: PTI Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy and Tea Dye Duo

Butterfly Kisses and Birthday Wishes

I have a quick birthday card for today.  I bought several paper packs from Lime Twist recently and they have such pretty papers and colors.  The papers all coordinate nicely and it was easy to put this card together when I saw the pretty butterflies.

I used an old stamp set from Fiskars.  It's one of the very few such stamp sets I still have.  I like many of them but the quality of the stamps isn't very good and I've gotten quite spoiled with the photopolymer stamps available now.  I really wish Fiskars would switch to the better quality.  I won't buy them anymore and I got rid of most of the ones I had.  This one, called Butterfly Magic, I just couldn't and it actually stamps pretty well.  It's a little hard to see though on the bright pink dots paper.

Cardstock: PTI Simply Chartreuse
Patterned Paper: Lime Twist Happy Go Lucky collection, Memory Box Thistle Distressed Dots
Stamps: Fiskars Butterfly Magic
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Other: PTI butterfly die, Recollections pearls (Michael's)

All Booked Up

Today I have another card that I made for a friend at work.  She wanted a birthday card for her dad who likes to read.  Well, I finally cracked open my All Booked Up stamp set from Papertrey for this one.  I can't believe how long I've had this set and hadn't inked it up.

Sentiment inside card

I used Papertrey's text style stamp to create what looks like a page from a book for the background.  I love how this looks on the kraft cardstock.

Cardstock: PTI Kraft
Stamps: PTI All Booked Up, Enjoy the Ride, Background Basics: Text Style
Ink: Memento Paris Dusk, Rhubarb Stalk
Other: PTI Mat Stack 3 die
Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

You're Awesome!

A friend at work asked me to make a birthday card for her cousin.  She described him as good-looking, and he knows it.  Funny, but not much to go on.  Then I found the perfect paper and made this card.  It was super simple as I just let the paper say it all.

This past Saturday, I went to a big sale at my local scrapbook store here in Northern California. I finally got some Jenni Bowlin ink that I've been wanting to try out.  I used it for some cards this weekend and I really liked the coverage.  I will definitely get more of it.

Cardstock: PTI Soft Stone
Patterned Paper: Teresa Collins On the Edge: Words
Stamps: Practicing Creativity You're the Man, PTI Birthday Basics
Ink: Memento Lady Bug
Other: PTI Double Ended Banner
Size: 5.5" x 4.25

A Reel Great Guy!

Okay, okay, I give.  This is the last Father's Day card I'm making this year.  And this one is my favorite.  It will be going to my dad.  You know I love my patterned papers and October Afternoon's Campfire collection is no exception.

This will be a busy weekend in my craft room, so I'm actually glad that we're supposed to have a rainy weekend.  It'll help keep me at my craft table.  My goal is to make 4 birthday cards and an anniversary card.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Cardstock: PTI Terracotta Tile, Kraft, Rustic Cream and Spring Moss
Patterned Paper: October Afternoon Campfire collection

Ahoy Matey!

Today I have another of the Father's Day cards I made last weekend.  This one came together really quickly.  I used the Men of Life papers from Papertrey Ink with the Boy Basics: Simple Circles stamps and border die.

It's probably a little hard to tell that the stamped circles are popped up with foam adhesive.  I really like the clean lines of this card.

Cardstock: PTI Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy and Stampers Select White
Patterned Paper: PTI Men of Life
Stamps: PTI Out to Sea, Boy Basics: Simple Circles and My Hero, My Dad
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, PTI Enchanted Evening

Seed Packets of Love

Last week I got my Papertrey Ink May release order and got to play with it over Memorial Day weekend.  I had so much fun with the Garden Variety and Year of Flowers Collection stamp sets and the matching dies.  I made the following cards:

Aren't those so cute?  I am sending two of them to my mother and my mother-in-law.  Neither is big time into gardening but I think they will really like them.  I will definitely be using these stamps and dies over and over.  Isn't that gingham paper cute too?  I found it at my local scrapbook store; I got it in lots of colors.  And I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those tiny tags!
