Make It Monday #9 - Loss of Pet

Today was a good day for my "little card shop" at work.  I sold two of my ready-made cards and got orders for four new cards, two needed by tomorrow.  So I was busy tonight making them.  One of the cards is for the loss of a cat.  I've had Papertrey's With Sympathy: Loss of Pet stamp set for awhile and this is the first time I've had to use it.  It's a small set and I really like the sentiments - I would love to have more such sentiments as I have a lot of friends and family that have pets.

And since the Make It Monday #9 challenge is all about heat embossing, I decided to heat emboss the sentiment on the front of the card.  But, of course, I had to find a way to make it harder than it had to be.  I really wanted to use a dark blue ink but PTI's Enchanted Evening would not hold the embossing powder, it dried too quickly.  So I dug around and found a Colorbox cat's eye dark blue that worked, sort of.  My practice try looked great, the final one not so much.  It is definitely embossed but not perfect in my eyes.  When I looked closer at the ink I used, it was a chalk ink instead of a pigment ink.  Anyway, here's the card:

And here is the inside:

Go to Nichole's blog to watch the technique video for this challenge.  And while you're there, check out the other cards/projects that were submitted.  Very inspiring!
