Valentine Treat Boxes

First, I found out yesterday that I was one of the winners at My Favorite Things (MFT) Teaser Time: Day 1.  Yay!  On February 1st, their new release is coming and they have some fun new stamps - the Pure Innocence stamps are just the cutest.  They also have some great dies.  I've really gotten to like MFT a lot!

Second, I really made an effort to spend time checking out the blogs from the January Papertrey Blog Hop.  I did good, but still have a lot to do.  I'd love to get done with them today but I know that won't happen.  I am determined to visit and comment on them all.

Third and last, I made valentine treat boxes yesterday using Papertrey's Favor It Box 2 die.  Here they are:

Aren't they cute?  It was so fun making them.  I used Versamark ink to make the patterns on the cardstock, a different stamp for each box - from PTI's Background Basics: Hearts and Simple Valentine. Some definitely worked better than others, but I was pleased with the results.  Then I used Mat Stack 2, definitely my favorite Mat Stack die, a Limitless Layers die and Tiny Treats: Valentine to make the cute tags that I attached to each box.  I just love coloring the little images.

Now I need to go make some birthday and anniversary cards.  It's been a rainy weekend, good for crafting!  Not so good for dog walking - takes a while to get all the rain gear on and off - but once we're out there we are all enjoying it.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week!

A Simple Valentine

This has been a very busy week and all I've really been able to do is spend some time visiting blogs that participated in Papertrey's January Blog Hop.  I'm only up to 120, with over 130 to go!  Whew... I totally underestimated how long it takes to read each post and leave a comment.

I was able to make a quick, simple valentine card this morning and then took Marley for a nice long walk. Hubby is out of town so we have a nice quiet weekend ahead for crafting.  I am going to make some treat boxes for some of my co-worker's children this afternoon.

Papertrey January Blog Hop Challenge

New Year's Resolutions

With the new year comes a clean slate along with many resolutions.
This month's blog hop challenge involves you challenging yourself to use a
stamp set that has yet to see ink or even one that might be collecting a little dust!

Yay!!!  My first blog hop challenge!  This challenge was easy for me.  I'm working on valentine cards now so I had to look no further than my desk where I had just pulled stamp sets.  I knew I wanted to use the Echo Park Be Mine sheet music paper with a darling red heart doily that I found at Michaels.  Then when I saw PTI's Just the Ticket stamp set, I knew I had my card.  This wasn't the first time I used this stamp set but I hadn't used it in quite a while.  Then I saw the Happy Valentine's Day sentiment on PTI's Love Songs stamp set and knew it was a perfect fit - for the card and challenge.  I just got this stamp set (Thank you Jamie!) and hadn't used it yet.

Do you like the red heart button?  I made it myself with the medium heart print die and pure poppy cardstock from PTI, thin chipboard, Glossy Accents and a hole punch.  It's the first time I've used Glossy Accents - whoa, I love that stuff!  The button was finished off with some pure poppy baker's twine.  So cute!

I grabbed some tickets that had already been die cut and were in my stash.  When I stamped the ticket frames, I thought it was odd that they were so much smaller than the tickets.  When I checked them with PTI's ticket die, I realized that the tickets were really cut using the Tim Holtz ticket die that I also have.  I was going to recut the tickets and then thought better of it.  I really like how the tickets look with more of a border.  A perfect accident - lol!

Now go check out the rest of the Blog Hop participants on the list over on Nichole's blog.  Have a great Blog Hop Day!

Who's Counting?

Hey, a birthday card this time!  I'll be going to a birthday luncheon on Monday to celebrate one of my co-workers' birthday.  She is, like me, a golfer (at least we try - lol!) so I thought this Loralie stamp was perfect paired with a sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Birthday Bash Sentiments stamp set.  But this card almost didn't make it.  Can you tell what went wrong?

I'm sure other stampers can relate.  You spent an hour or so carefully coloring an image with copics and assembling your card and then ... splat!  I picked up my BLACK ink pad and pulled off the lid, when it flew out of my hands and landed (inky edges down) right on top of my lovely copic-colored image!  Oh, the horror!  I so didn't want to start over.  Fortunately, it appeared that none of the ink got on the image itself, just on the white paper, but it's not like I can erase it.  Wait, I know!  I meant to do that!  I grabbed the ink pad lid and carefully pressed the inky edges to the white paper around the image, giving it a sort of distressed look.  Actually, it solved a problem for me.  I thought the white looked too bright and stark and this toned it down.  So, I guess it was meant to be.  Whew! Got lucky on that one.

Love Letter

Yes, another valentine card!  Ooh, and I love this one.  I was playing with the patterned papers from the Echo Park Be Mine Collection and the envelope just sort of fell into place.  So cute.

Thanks for looking!

Love will keep us together!

I'm on a roll with valentine cards right now.  The following card was a bit of a struggle because I didn't want to use any pink.  I think this card has a more masculine feel to it.  I checked with hubby and he agreed - oops, I guess I can't give him this one - lol!

I finally used a background stamp that I've had in my stash for a while now - Music Score by Stampendous - for the heart balloons.  I like it because the music is much smaller than other music stamps or paper I have so it works perfectly for a smaller element like the die cut hearts.  I am very happy with how the card turned out.  I hope you like it too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Smooches for You!

Another valentine card today.  This one is a total CASE of this card by the so-very-talented Michelle Wooderson.  I kept coming back to it so I finally decided to just make one like it and get it out of my system so I could move on - lol! And it's the first time I've used my Say It With Style stamp set from Papertrey Ink.  Love it!

I'm still thinking about going back and using Glossy Accents on the lips.  I love that stuff!

Be Mine Valentine!

I made my first valentine card for the new year.  I love Echo Park's Be Mine papers.  It was hard deciding which ones to use for this card, so I used a bunch of them - lol!  This card is also the first time I've used my scallop die from Papertrey Ink.  I just love the texture it adds to the card.

I used another Papertrey die to cut out the pretty little felt heart.  I'm going to make a few more of these to sell at work.

My Condolences

Today I learned that the husband and father of two special people passed away in December.  I didn't know him personally and I do not know his wife and daughter personally.  Yet for the last year, they have brought much joy into my life with my new-found love of stamping and cardmaking.  I created the following card for them with my sincerest condolences.

In the mail today was the Decorative Doily die from My Favorite Things, so I just had to use it.  I was surprised and very pleased that the circular frame from PTI's Spooky Sweets II stamp set matched the inner circle of the doily perfectly. I think it looks very pretty.

I apologize for the photo.  I guess I need to invest in a light box so I can take photos indoors.

Ink: Memento True Black, Memento Rose Bud, PTI Tea Dye Duo

Circa 1934 Birthday Card

I love the Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 patterned paper but it was just sitting in my paper bin waiting for the right inspiration.  Then I saw this card by Jackie Pedro.  I just love her style, she is so talented.  Here is my CASE - I love it!

I used Papertrey Ink's Beautiful Blooms II dies to create the chipboard flowers.  I love using PTI dies to do this!

Stamps: PTI Birthday Bash Sentiments

Happy New Year 2011!

Well, I have decided to dip my toes into blogland.  This is a whole new world for me.

It's just an adventure getting the blog set up.  Long search to find a free template that I liked.  Not sure if this one will be flexible enough but I like it and it should be fine for starting out.  So, let's see where this goes...

Ready, set, blog!
