Freshly Made Sketches #86

Happy Wednesday!  Here we are again with another new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Today's sketch comes from Amy O'Neill and it's a very versatile one!  I love it!  As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to use my new Eat Cake stamp set from A Muse Studio.  And I decided to finally try the chalkboard technique.  I love this technique but it freaks me out.  Why?  Because white ink on black paper usually doesn't turn out very well for me.  But I decided to go for it:

What do you think?  I heat embossed the white because I didn't like how it looked with just white ink stamped on the black.  I lightly sponged on some white ink to make it look like erasing on a chalkboard.  Then I decided to add the pop of yellow and red with the banner.  All that was left was to add a little something to the bottom.  After a lot of searching through stamp sets, I found a small flourish that added just the touch I wanted.  I am pretty happy with it.  It was easier than I thought.  I will definitely make more of these.

I think Amy's sketch is the perfect sketch to use the chalkboard technique.  If you haven't tried this yet, you really should!

Freshly Made Sketches #85

Hello!  It's Wednesday already and time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Narelle brings us a great new sketch!  So many possibilities!  Here is my take:

My current love affair with lots of white space continues.  So when I saw Narelle's sketch, I saw a white card base with a burst of fun, bright color in the center.  I really didn't want to add additional color to the top of the card, so instead I stamped a simple black/gray sentiment repeating across the top.  All in all, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!  

And, here is Narelle's awesome sketch!  You're gonna love it!

On a side note, sorry I haven't been posting much lately.  We've been in the middle of updating our master bedroom and my craft room was the dumping ground for everything that needed to be moved out of the way.  Extremely irritating when the new carpet was delayed three weeks; but it was worth the wait - I love it!  Most of the work is done, just little things to do now.  My craft room is slowly emptying out so I hope to get back to being more creative very soon.

Freshly Made Sketches #84

Happy May Day!  When I was little, my mom made little baskets with candies and we would take them around the neighborhood leaving them at each door.  I don't have a basket of candies for you, but I do have a new sketch for you!  Today I am playing hostess at Freshly Made Sketches!  Here is the card I made using my sketch:

Freshly Made Sketches #83 - Happy Birthday Vicki!

Hello!  Here it is Wednesday already and that means a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches!  Today Allisa is our hostess and she brings us a fabulous sketch.  As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I needed to break out the patterned paper.  And I wanted some really pretty colors because I had a special card to make.

Gotta love those funky flowers!  And isn't that patterned paper pretty?  Speaking of patterned paper, I have to say that I must be in a pretty paper lull lately.  I recently took a trip to my local scrapbook store and I surprisingly bought only a few new paper collections.  Not like me at all.  Could I have reached my saturation point?  Is it just me or are all the new paper collections looking the same?  Not that I need more paper; I really do need to use up what I have.  So maybe this is a good thing?
